Case Study: Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center – Washington, D.C.

The Reagan Building is one of America’s great public facilities, and Coastal has been chosen by the Federal Protective Service to support its security program there, the largest of its kind in Washington D.C., since 1998.

Coastal manages a two-fold mission: providing compre-hensive security for government agencies working in the Reagan Building and providing security to the public-accessible facility and the International Trade Center.

With a workforce of more than 350 armed and highly trained personnel, officers cover fixed and roving posts, staff a state-of-the-art Central Command and Control Center and secure parking areas. Coastal provides access control by managing badging systems, x-ray machines and magnetometers.

Coastal also provides security to the base building and the International Trade Center. Coastal officers work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure that this unique 3.2 million sq. ft. public/private office and conference space, the U.S. government’s second largest building, is always protected by committed security personnel.

The Trade Center routinely hosts public functions, including formal social affairs attended by as many as 1,000 people, with prominent public officials, foreign heads of state and leaders of the commercial and government sectors. CIS provides security officers on a surge or emergency basis to staff these special functions.
