Court Security Officer Qualifications

All Akal CSO candidates recruited and submitted to the U.S. Marshals Service for a background investigation will meet the following qualification standards:

• U.S. citizen
• 21 years of age
• High school degree or GED
• Fluency in English and any other USMS-required language
• Valid drivers license and a five-year safe driving record
• Three years' documented experience as a certified, civilian or military law-enforcement officer
• No convictions of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence

CSO qualification requirements:

• Graduate of a certified, recognizable law-enforcement academy that qualifies graduates as armed, law-enforcement officers
• Meet medical standards as specified by the USMS
• Receive a clearance from the Department of Justice
• Meet firearm standards under USMS prescribed testing conditions

Homeland Security Officer Qualifications

Government security positions require a minimum of three years' experience as a police officer or Military Police officer and certification from public law-enforcement academy.

Supervisors must have three years' supervisory experience. If you are applying for a supervisor position, you will be required to meet the same minimum qualification and training requirements as a security officer. This is a government requirement and is particularly important because supervisors may be required to perform regular security officer duties to supplement services in emergencies.

Homeland Security Officer candidates qualification standards:

Candidates for a government security officer position must meet the following qualification standards:

• U.S. citizen
• High school diploma or GED
• Fluency in English and any other site-required language
• Valid drivers license and a five-year safe driving record
• In some cases, experience as a law-enforcement or security officer
• No convictions of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence

General security officer qualification requirements:

• Be able to interact tactfully with people
• Be able to understand, explain, and apply rules
• Be able to respond calmly and quickly in stressful situations
• Be able to prepare clear and concise reports
• Be able to adapt to change
• Be able to respond well to direction
